COLUMBUS COUNTY FAIR CONTESTS
All Contests require a Waiver & Release to be completed by contestants. Some Events have additional requirements. Click below for more details.

Battle of the Bands on Monday, October 6, 2008. Watch High School Marching Bands around the county compete to win the trophy and a years worth of bragging rights.

Tug-O-War (Monday, October 6, 2008- Other Nights if teams permit).  Come out and enjoy an old fashioned game of Tug of war at the Columbus County Fair Grounds at the Track .

Cheerleading Competition (Tuesday, October 7, 2008)
 We are excited to announce the Columbus County Agricultural Fair will continue the Cheerleading Competition for Varsity and Junior Varsity squads this year!  Invitations are extended to all schools in Columbus, New Hanover and Brunswick counties.

Spelling Bee Grades 3, 4 & 5 on Tuesday October 7,2008. Contestants will be selected to represent their school in the spelling bee competition. See your teacher or principal for details and registration information. One winner per grade level, Winners will receive a $100.00 Savings Bond and a trophy.

Grades 6, 7 & 8 on Wednesday October 8,2008. Contestants will be selected to represent their school in the spelling bee competition. See your teacher or principal for details and registration information. One winner per grade level, Winners will receive a $100.00 Savings Bond and a trophy.

Round Track Lawnmower Racing
on Wednesday, October 8, 2008. No Entry Fee. Lawnmowers will be provided!!  Kids can race too! Sponsored by Mowdown Motorsports. For more information contact Dwayne Taylor at (910) 279-6019.

5th Annual Four Wheeler Pull on Thursday, October 9, 2008. Entry fee will be $10.00 per class. Trophies will be awarded for 1st and 2nd place

5th Annual  Lawn Mower Pull on Thursday, October 9, 2008. NO ENTRY FEE. 10 Classes will be pulling. Ribbons will be awarded for 1st and 2nd place

Demolition Derby will be held at the Columbus County Fairgrounds on Friday, October 10 and Saturday, October 11, 2008. Cars must be on fairgrounds for inspection and qualification from 4:00p.m. to 6:00p.m. each evening. Race begins at 7:00p.m. Any car arriving after 6:00p.m. will be allowed entry only upon acceptance by demo derby officials.

Talent Competition (Saturday, October 11, 2008 7:15-Until)  Age groups will be 5 & under, 6-8, 9-12, 13-15, 16& older. Solos or groups (no heavy metal or acid rock).
