q   Cheerleading Competition   on Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at   7pm at Whiteville High School Gym.  This year the competition will include Middle School, JV and Varsity Levels.  Rules and regulations for the competition will be in accordance with Cheer Limited/CANAM and the AACCA.  Guidelines for middle schools can also be found with the local high school athletic association.  www.aacca.org. Bladen, Brunswick, Columbus, and Robeson Counties have all been invited to make this a huge success. 
     
talent   Talent Competition (Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at )  Age groups will be 6 & under and 7 to 12. (Thursday, October 13, 2011 at ) Age Groups will be 13-15 and 16 & older. Solos or groups (no heavy metal or acid rock). The cut-off date for registration is Friday, September 30, 2011

     
     
q   Spelling Bee Grades 3, 4 & 5 on Tuesday, October 11, 2011 at 7:00pm and Grades 6, 7 & 8 on Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at 7:45pm. . Contestants will be selected to represent their school in the spelling bee competition. See your teacher or principal for details and registration information. One winner per grade level, Winners will receive a $100.00 Savings Bond and a trophy.
     
     
tug   Tug-O-War - Men's Competition(Thursday, October 13, 2011-Weigh-In begins at 7:30pm) Women's Competition(Sunday , October 16, 2011-Weigh-In begins at 2:00pm) Come out and enjoy an old fashioned game of Tug of war at the Columbus County Fair Grounds at the Track. q   Demolition Derby will be held at the Columbus County Fairgrounds on Friday, October 14 and Saturday, October 15, 2011. Cars must be on fairgrounds for inspection and qualification from 4:00p.m. to 6:00p.m. each evening. Race begins at 7:00p.m. Any car arriving after 6:00p.m. will be allowed entry only upon acceptance by demo derby officials.

q   That's My Dog will be held at the Columbus County Fairgrounds on Sat October 15, 2011 at 5pm. The 15th Annual pet show will be held in the Main Arena in the livestock building. Categories include:
Best Costume - DOG ONLY; Best Costume - Dog & Handler; Smallest Dog; Largest Dog; Longest Ears; Most Spots; Best Trick; Hot Dog Race - Daschunds only. Dog must run to owner; Novice Showmanship - Best Behaved on leash/ Sit /Stay; Movie Star Look-alike; Musical Chairs - Dog sits when music stops. Last dog standing is eliminated.; Parade of Pets - All contestants back for one  "show off"  That's My Dog!
